Rugby league session

rugby league session

During this week on Wednesday 22 of June room 22 had a rugby league session on our school courts with one of the 2011 Vodafone Junior Warriors known as Sio Siua Taukeiaho.

There were 3 drills that we played which were called in and out ,zig zag and Rugby tennis. We were split into 4 teams I was in team 1. we only had 7 players so one us had to run twice which was Junior .

Our first lesson was in and out were all four teams had to run individually Zig zagging in and out of the cones placed in front, we would score a point for the first team to sit down my group won the first time.

I’m not sure what this drill was called so our second drill of the day was we had to weave through our team and then sprint back to the start to score a try.

Last drill of the day was called kick tennis, were the four teams had to combine as two teams , we had one even side of the court and so did the other team , we had to kick the ball to the other players but trying not to get out or kick the ball too short or kick it out side of the cones we had three games ‘I felt like continuing.

Rugby league can help in a way like fitness thats what I like the most about it. I can’t wait unti next time if there is a next time.

The Fonterra science Roadshow

On the 9th of June room 22 and the rest of the year 7 and 8’s walked down to Tamaki College to learn about the science at the Fonterra roadshow. The Fonterra science roadshow travels around Aotearoa teaching children about science, technology and innovation.

When we arrived we were greeted by two scientists Paul and Jane giving a presentation on fire. It was exciting because one of the scientist used thrilling things like flames, blow torches, candles and acids.

There were six themes in the exhibits which were detection, heat, communication, leavers, gears and inclined planes, sound and quirky curiosities.

In detection exhibits some if the substances were radiation, bird songs, fluorescence's, mass spectrometer and a lot more. These were about electricity, identifying and analysing. This was my favourite exhibit.

My overall higlight for the road show was having to look arpund at different exhibits and learning new things. One thing that I would change would have to be the talking 'That was the worst'.
